JOE'S BACKGROUND

Joe Bevilacqua is known for his passion for radio. His career has moved from radio theater, radio biography writer, news host to publicizing contemporary radio stations. He has been collecting and studying radio since he first started listening as a kid in the 1970s. He absorbed everything he heard and became a mimic classic radio voices. Joe is also an animation expert. His mentor was Daws Butler, the voice of Daws Butler, the voice of Yogi Bear. As soon as home cassette recorders became available Joe began taping shows with his mic held up to the radio speaker so he could capture ephemeral daily shows. In High School Joe utilized the PS system to give humorous announcements to get his fellow classmates interested in what was going on that day. In college Joe became an integral part of the the college radio station from co-hosting a radio show to producing and performing in radio theater that included Shakespeare to student written shows. After college Joe dove headfirst into a New York City public radio career. He worked at the top public NPR stations as well as working for Bob and Ray and co-producing and promoting great programs like the sixty-fifth anniversary WNYC radio broadcast.
